Google positioning is the place occupied by a website in the results pages of search engines such as Google for keywords written by users in search engines.

If you don$0027t have the time to read the content, you can listen to his narration here or download it to listen later:

If you have a website or blog, you may have already done the exercise of typing its name or keywords into the Google search engine to see where it appears.

Because the first page of search engine results is the most coveted place on the Internet… Everyone wants to be there!

Although achieving this is not impossible, it is a task that requires patience, disciplined work and constant monitoring.

But why is it so important to achieve that positioning and how to measure it properly? Let start at the beginning…

What is Google positioning?

Positioning is the place your website occupies in search engine results when certain keywords are searched.

Generally, the results that appear on the first page receive the most clicks, especially if they are in the top positions.

There are two types of results:

Paid results

They are the first to be seen on the results page and appear with the word “Ad” on the left side.

As they are paid, they have less credibility, so they do not receive as many clicks as one would think. According to SERPLAB, between 70% and 80% of users “skip” these ads and go straight to organic results.

Organic results

are the results that occur “naturally” in the search engine, and do not have the “ad” indicator. The first organic results are the ones that give users the most confidence. This is why they receive the most clicks.

This organic positioning depends on several factors. Basically, search engines such as Google evaluate the relevance and authority of your pages with respect to the term or keyword chosen by the user, in order to present them with the results most in line with their search.

To reach that desired place, there are SEO techniques, whose purpose is to optimize your pages so that, little by little, they appear in those first locations.

So recognizing your web positioning is very important when evaluating your SEO strategies and analyzing their effectiveness, in order to make the necessary adjustments and reach the coveted top.

Having a well-positioned site means:

  • drive more traffic to your website,
  • have greater visibility
  • and higher conversion rates.
